- Does Dewie use AI to write reports?
- No. Dewie contains zero generative AI. The app guides officers through each evaluation step and structures what they record, but every word in the final report is authored by the officer. That matters in court: states have begun requiring disclosure when police reports are drafted by AI (Utah SB 180, California SB 524), and some prosecutors' offices decline AI-assisted reports outright. A Dewie report has nothing to disclose — the officer is the only author.
- Who owns the data?
- Your agency does. Reports belong to the department that created them, officers can always download their own reports as PDFs, and department administrators can access every report in their department. Dewie's own staff cannot read report content — our platform administration tools are deliberately built without access to it.
- Can a report be edited or deleted after submission?
- No — by anyone, including us. Once submitted, reports are immutable: the database itself has no update or delete path for report records, not just the app. What the officer submitted in the field is exactly what exists at trial, which makes the record easy to defend against tampering allegations.
- How does Dewie affect discovery?
- Every report renders to a clean, consistent PDF that is ready to hand to a prosecutor or produce in discovery. Because there is no AI draft, there is no intermediate machine-generated version to preserve, disclose, or litigate over — the officer's structured observations are the complete record.
- Does it work without cell service?
- Yes. Dewie is built for rural enforcement: evaluations are conducted and saved entirely on the device, drafts auto-save as the officer works, and completed reports queue for upload the moment coverage returns. Officers stay signed in for up to 30 days without network contact.
- Which evaluations does Dewie cover?
- The full SFST battery (HGN, Walk-and-Turn, One-Leg Stand) with verbatim NHTSA instructions; the ARIDE supplement (Lack of Convergence, Modified Romberg, Finger-to-Nose with an interactive face diagram, pupil assessment, vitals); and the complete 12-step DRE evaluation. Military police departments get DoD form workflows instead.
- What does it cost?
- Department pricing is $10 per officer per month. Seats are licensed to the department, and administrators assign them with a single invite code — no per-officer contracts or setup fees.
- How is the data secured?
- Every query runs through row-level security in the database, so a department's data is isolated from every other department at the lowest layer — not just in the app. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is role-based: officers see their own reports, department admins see their department, and Dewie staff see aggregate counts only. - How do officers get set up?
- Administrators share a six-character invite code. Officers download the app, create an account, and enter the code — that claims a seat and connects them to the department. Admins manage seats, ARIDE/DRE certifications, and account status from the web portal.
- What platforms does it run on?
- The Dewie app runs on iPhone. Officers and administrators also get a web portal for viewing and downloading reports from any computer. Android support is on our roadmap — tell us if that's a requirement and we'll keep you posted.
