Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Dewie is a documentation tool for law enforcement, and we treat the information that passes through it accordingly. Our approach is simple: we collect only what is necessary to create and deliver your reports, and nothing more. This policy describes what we collect, why we collect it, and how it is protected. It applies to the Dewie iOS application and the dewie.app website, both operated by Big Sky Digital Foundry, LLC.

What we collect

We collect and store only the following categories of information:

  • Account information. Your name, email address, badge number, department affiliation, and certification status. This information identifies the reporting officer and appears on the reports you generate.
  • Report content. The information you enter while documenting an evaluation, such as case numbers, incident dates, test observations, and results. This content exists solely to produce your report and is entered entirely by you.
  • Subscription status. For individual subscriptions purchased through the App Store, we receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple. All payment processing is handled by Apple. We never see or store your payment details.
  • Demo requests. If you submit our contact form, we store the details you provide (name, email, agency, phone number, and message) so that we can respond to your inquiry.

What we do not collect

  • We do not log or retain IP addresses associated with your account or activity.
  • We do not track or store your device location. The app requests no location permissions.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers, tracking cookies, or cross-site tracking of any kind.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
  • We do not use your data, including report content, to train artificial intelligence models. Dewie contains no generative AI.

Our website uses privacy-focused, aggregate analytics to understand overall traffic patterns. These analytics are anonymized, do not use cookies, and cannot identify individual visitors.

How your information is used

Information is used exclusively to:

  • Generate the reports you create and deliver them to you.
  • Authenticate your account and, where applicable, associate it with your department.
  • Allow department administrators to manage seats, certifications, and access for officers within their own department.
  • Verify subscription entitlements.
  • Respond to inquiries you send us.

How your information is protected

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is governed by row-level security, which means officers can only access their own reports and department administrators can only access reports created within their own department. Submitted reports are immutable: no one, including us, can edit or delete a submitted report through the application.

Platform administration accounts have access to department and account management functions but do not have access to report content through the administration interface.

Data retention

Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. Report records are retained because they are law enforcement documentation that may be needed for court proceedings, and their retention is governed by your department's records policies. Demo request submissions are retained only as long as needed to handle the inquiry.

If you wish to close your account, contact us at support@dewie.app and we will deactivate it and remove your account information, subject to any retention obligations that apply to report records.

Third-party services

Dewie relies on a small number of infrastructure providers to operate: secure cloud hosting for the database and authentication, and Apple for App Store subscription processing. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not use third-party advertising or marketing services.

Children's privacy

Dewie is a professional tool for law enforcement personnel and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Continued use of Dewie after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
