Founder & Law Enforcement Advisor
Aaron is a police officer who identified the need for better tools in DUI investigations.
With firsthand experience in the challenges of field sobriety testing, Aaron conceived the idea for Dewie to address the limitations of traditional pen-and-paper documentation.
His expertise in law enforcement protocols ensures that Dewie meets the real-world needs of officers in the field.
Thomas Hodge
Founder & Lead Developer
Thomas is the sole developer behind Dewie, transforming Aaron's vision into a functional application.
Before becoming a developer, Thomas served 6 years in the United States Air Force, with stations in Germany and Maryland, bringing discipline and attention to detail to his work.
After his military service, Thomas and his wife relocated to Montana, where he built a successful IT career progressing from security analyst to network administrator, and currently works as a systems and network engineer.
His extensive background in technical infrastructure and security provides a solid foundation for developing secure, reliable software solutions.
When his friend Aaron approached him with the idea for Dewie, Thomas recognized the potential to create technology that could make a meaningful difference in public safety.
He handles all aspects of development, from design to implementation, focusing on creating an intuitive experience for law enforcement professionals.
Our Story
Dewie began when Aaron, a police officer with years of experience in DUI enforcement, approached his friend Thomas with an idea. Aaron had identified significant limitations in the traditional pen-and-paper approach to field sobriety testing.
The current process was prone to documentation errors, especially in challenging field conditions. It was difficult to maintain protocol adherence while simultaneously taking detailed notes, and the quality of documentation could vary widely between officers.
Thomas, a skilled developer, immediately recognized the potential to create something valuable. Together, they designed Dewie to address these challenges, focusing on creating a tool that would be intuitive for officers while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and protocol adherence.
Today, Dewie represents the perfect union of law enforcement expertise and technical skill — a specialized tool built by professionals who understand the unique challenges of DUI investigation.
